Crocheting with Charts

Hello my crafty friends,

We are in the midst of having a heat wave, at this time of year we are usually treated to a couple of weeks of beautifully warm temperatures. This year however it has been hot for several weeks so the weather is definitely a treat and the thoughts of yarns is usually a distant thought, for me I haven’t picked up my hook seriously for several months so I am enjoying my time with creating a few smaller projects such as hats.I now have a few hats done for the fall season and I hope that I will be able to hit a few craft fairs this fall/winter season. This will all be dependent on my health and if there is some improvements so please send some good vibes to me. So with this new found resurgence of interest in my love of crochet I have become a pinning fool and I am looking forward to receiving a purchase of a Japanese crochet stitch book I found on Etsy. But I probably wouldn’t have been so brave if I hadn’t found a pattern for a hat that I truly love. I think I found this hat on Laurie Wheelers blog and I truly loved it and bought the pattern right away. The pattern for hat is from DaisyEzyCraft shop on Etsy. I just love it and truly enjoyed making it! Please find the picture of the hat I took off of her shop page on Etsy.

Amazing Pattern

This is one of the best patterns I have come across with step by step crochet photo tutorials and excellent instructions that for someone like me who isn’t as versed on crocheting with charts is very great as I have often passed on patterns without the written instructions. As you may have guessed I have often felt a bit intimidated with crochet charts but since following this pattern with such excellent presentation I don’t feel quite as timid as I did before. I did send out my thanks to this shop owner but I just had to feature her design and the hat with you. I do have my second one completed now but don’t seem to have a model around to get its photographed. I will share at a later date when I have one ready and a model. So I bid you a goodnight I hope you all have a great deal of warm weather to enjoy in this next few weeks!

Thank Goodness for Crochet

[subscribe2]Hello my crafty friends,

I wanted to reach out and let everyone know I was still around! I have missed my daily updates and I will endeavour to be regular with my updates.

As with any great post title, I have come up today with “Thank Goodness for Crochet”. My reason for saying this is simple – I love it. I have been recently spending quite a bit of time on Pinterest and have found a mountain of ideas to play with and get inspiration from. I have created a board that is called Crochet Stitch Patterns which I need to try. I’ve been thrilled with all the different stitch patters, combo’s, or techniques out there that are absolutely beautiful.

If you’re on Pinterest, follow me at Crochet4mybutterfly and you too can link to this board as I add to it.

I am very  lucky to be able to share this with you today. The above photo is a 2 row repeat that looks complex when it’s actually quite simple. Well, I will be off as I go on with my search for new and fresh ideas that are in the crochet world.

Have a super happy and sunny day!

Crochet & Beads

[subscribe2]Hello my crafty friends,

I have always loved many types of crafts, crochet became my passion after many years of experimenting with things like embroidery, needle point, beading, rug hooking and this list could go on for quite a bit of time. I have some fond memories that I would like to share with you.

First, I was a very fortunate little girl as my family and my families friends saw something in me that was creative and they helped to feed that creative desire to learn many types of crafting. My younger sister is only 2 years difference so we always we part of each other’s parties my mom organized. I am not sure how old she was turning but I do remember going to her birthday party and even tho I shouldn’t have received anything I was treated to a small creative gift where I was to decorate a styrofoam dress with beading and ribbons and many other things. I had this done by the time the party was over and I was very pleased with the praise I received from the family friends whom had presented me with this gift.

Then one year in high-school I can remember my art teacher helping me with a drawing of a friends face. I was pretty proud of this and I found that I really enjoyed working on this type or medium, and for awhile I thought that was going to be my path in life some artistic form of applying crafting with my creativity.

My motive for writing about my personal experiences is simply that I want to ask my crafty friends to help our crafty youngsters be supported in their creativity by teaching or directing them where they may find assistance to develop those skills and creativity. I think many things have improved and the teaching of the “Arts” in our schools have started to flourish again which is a positive thing.

Lastly I have started working with Crochet & beads and I am very excited with my new work. It brings me back to those extremely fond memories.

Crochet Jewelry Question for Help

Hello my crafty friends,

I have been looking at a lot of my magazines lately because I wanted  to look for a nice necklace and earrings set for a friends birthday present.  I have only really found 1 that I like and its more of a choker type style which surprised me a lot because I normally wouldn’t ever pick out something like that for this frieend.

The other thing I really was surprised with was that I didn’t care for many of the designs I saw.  I had thought I might try to find a few ideas and maybe add them to my items I sell on ESTY and at the craft fairs I do in the fall prior to Chistmas.  Is it just me being overly picky or it there a secret place where some crochet jewelry is hiding because after perusing magazines as far back as 4 years I was feeling someone deflated.

The reason I am trying to find patterns for making jewelry is that I made a mistake awhile back and bought a large amount of size 10 thread that I would like to get rid of it as its one of those things that I will not usually use  regularly and rather than throwing it out I want to get something for it and I felt it would be a great skill building opportunity.

So may I please ask for your help, do you know of a great spot to find “easy” crochet jewelry for me to learn how to do.  I really appreciate any help you may be able to provide me with.
